Archimedia to Demo World’s First Software Reference Player for Viewing 4K on an HDMI ® Monitor at DGA Digital Day

LOS ANGELES — July 24, 2013 — Archimedia Technology, a new company whose technology and applications bridge the gap between content producers and their archives without loss of quality, today announced that the company will showcase the Archimedia Reference Player at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Digital Day on Saturday, July 27. The Archimedia Reference Player is the world’s first software reference player for viewing, testing, and measuring master files on a standard HDMI ® HDTV.

Archimedia will offer hands-on demonstrations of its reference player in the Grand Lobby of the DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles. Archimedia Chief Marketing Officer Josef Marc will demonstrate playout of various master formats  — including DPX, DCP, JPEG2000, uncompressed, Ultra HD, broadcast HD, 4K, and beyond — over HDMI and SDI with a true 12-bit reference player and customized test patterns.

“Although the theme of this year’s workshop is ‘Hands on the Future of Entertainment,’ we are demonstrating that the future is now,” said Marc. “With the Archimedia Reference Player, directors and their teams no longer have to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in 4K projectors to view their masters. Instead, they can now view 4K, broadcast-quality files in native format on an HDMI desktop monitor or Ultra HD TV. We are offering a portable, efficient, and, most important, cost-effective solution for now and the future.”
